As a matter of fact, according to the data of Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB), the exports of the automotive industry in April increased by 11.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 2.7 billion dollars.

In the sector, which reached the highest monthly export figure this year, double-digit increases were recorded in commercial vehicles and bus-midibus-minibus product groups, which are among the sub-product groups. Among the countries, the high rate of increase in exports to the USA, Slovenia and Israel draws attention, while the share of the sector, which ranks second in Turkey’s exports, was 11.7 percent.

Baran Çelik, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OİB, said, “We are going through a period in which negative developments are experienced in world trade and negative growth forecasts are made. In such a period, we managed to reach the highest export figure this year with our performance in April and once again proved that we are the world’s strong and reliable production base in the automotive industry. Drawing attention to the loss experienced by the sector, which ranked second in Turkey’s exports in April, due to parity in the first 4 months of this year, Çelik said, “We lost 700 million dollars in exports in the January-April period of this year due to the euro/dollar parity. Despite this, in the first 4 months, our automotive industry exports increased by 0.4 percent to 10.2 billion dollars. Our average monthly exports in the first 4 months amounted to 2.55 billion dollars.”

Exports in the supply (supply industry) industry, which constitutes the largest product group last month, increased by 9.5 percent to 1 billion 151 million, while exports of automobiles decreased by 10 percent to 807 million dollars, exports of motor vehicles for the transportation of goods increased by 54 percent to 462 million dollars, buses-minibuses-midibuses. exports increased by 21.5 percent and reached 100 million dollars.

While sales to Germany, which is the country to which the most exports are made, increased by 5 percent, exports increased by 85 percent to the USA, 14 percent to Poland, 15 percent to Belgium and 70 percent to Morocco.
