The jewel in Celestron’s crown is the EdgeHD optical system, which is an improved Schmidt display with additional lens components, and while this upgrade is primarily designed for photography, we can still see it with the naked eye.
Mount Celestron’s computerized Nexstar firmware connects to a German-style equator stand, the main hub of which is at the celestial pole. Provides accurate tracking for photography and the ability to use different telescopes on the same mount. For example, the Advanced VX mount easily replaces the camera with a telephoto lens instead of the EdgeHD. The current version accepts both Wixon (short) and Lasmondi (wide) screws.
Compared to competitors, the VX Advanced Head is relatively lightweight and robust, and is not easily damaged or thrown out of repair. The telescope, mounting head and tripod can be easily separated for transportation.

All good binoculars in the same size class offer the same screens, so they are no different from other well-made 6 to 10 inch binoculars. Compared with regular Schmidt-Cassegrains, we think EdgeHD is more pronounced, especially further away from the center of the field.
The 40mm IPS supplied provides 50 power, which is less visible but suitable for star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. Celestron assumes you’ll buy more eyelids, and we recommend another 20mm (100x for general purpose) and 10mm (200x for moon and planets) eyelids. In exceptionally stable winds, 5 mm IPS (400x) can be used on nearby binary stars. High-quality eyelids express the best in this microscope, so don’t cut.
After the correct setup, the holder detects orbs as acceptable (sufficient to receive objects in the 20 mm field of view) and watches them closely. You can select items on the hand console, a computer running Celestron’s PWI software, or in multiple Sky Map packages. Stellarium. However, for longer exposures to nebulae and galaxies, automatic manual transmission and a fixed load to the steering rack, the advanced VX made me prefer a heavier mount with finer gearing and less lag (ported eventually). Because Advanced VX is an equator, this system is more than a regular process of automatically centering the two stars that the telescope points to. You need to aim for its polar axis Polaris, then adjust the alignment by looking at the stars and letting the installed computer tell you the errors. This process, called Celestron ‘All-Star Polar Alignment’, is simple and accurate, but you need to be able to identify the brightest stars. The mount works well for everything except long exposure deep sky photography, there are plenty of places to grow with standard accessories, and even if collateral is needed, there is a heavy mount.

If your main interest is long exposure astrophotography, skip the Advanced VX and get the same telescope on a Celestron CGX or Losmandy GM8 (much more expensive) mount.
If you are new to astronomy and not yet good at spotting stars, this can be a lot; You can get very similar views with the Nextstar Celestron 6 or 8 inch telescope with fork-arm mount, which is easy to move and set up with ease.
