Flor Amargo manifested herself after the threats that street artists have suffered in the Coyoacán mayor’s office

Flor Amargo is a Mexican artist who sings and composes her own songsshe began making street music, she played in the subway, in markets and on sidewalks.

His great talent and his way of expressing himself was what made him stand out in the world of music. This Monday, June 26, the artist stood in the CI entered Coyoacantogether with other street musicians, to prevent urban art from being removed from the streets.

“As you know, I am a street artist, a defender of culture. Today I am in front of Coyoacan Palace because they are removing all the urban artists, the same ones who have been there for more than 40 years. They want to steal Coyoacán’s identity to continue making money.

Via a direct from Facebook, Flor shared her plan to demonstrate against those who want urban music to disappear from the streets and asked for help to get others to join the cause.

“I want you to help me please, with all my heart, on behalf of all street artists, almost with tears in my eyes. We are not trash! Because the mayor’s office is saying that it is cleaning the garbage. Artists are not trash! (…) I, thanks to you, my loves, have the opportunity to help me share this message of what is happening in Coyoacán”.

The singer was placed at the foot of the kiosk, with various instruments to introduce yourself together with your colleagues; she hoped to show people how the authorities were going to take them away when they started playing.

In another part of the direct broadcast on Facebook, he is seen playing a tune on the piano and singingwhile other artists play other instruments and dance to the rhythm of Flor’s voice.

Later, the artist began to motivate people to go right to the front of the Coyoacan Palace. Some security elements can be seen at the door while all the musicians play, dance and sing along with Flor Amrgo.

The mayor of Coyoacan, Giovani Gutierrez, was the one who imposed these measures, because according to his statement he mentions that “Those who requested that the artists and artisans be removed were the neighbors.”

Gutiérrez added that there are neighbors who pay their taxes and that they are not cheap in Coyoacán.so it is their right not to like to see those spaces full of people with these types of activities.

“It is a difficult decision because we know that they are making a good living, but they left us so dirty that we had rodents living with people as pets,” added the mayor.

Deputy Ana Francis, Flor Amargo, Guadalupe Ocampo and Azul Violeta have been among the few people who have expressed dissatisfaction with the mayor’s actions of Coyoacan.

Ocampo Ortiz said that they are using the public force to stop these presentations, which means that they are violating several human rights like the right to work.
