One of the main differentials of the SLB program, which attracts many candidates, is the fact that the trainees are hired at the company from their first day on the job. The position is foreseen in the company’s career plan, which means that the candidate approved in the selection process will have the possibility to improve their knowledge while growing within the company.

“Engineering, traditionally, has always been a very male course, but that has changed in recent years. In 2021, we ended the year with 50% of women hired in the trainee program. There are more and more women in universities and in leadership positions in energy companies. Our expectation is to attract at least 70% of female candidates”, explained Thiago Laini, Schlumberger’s manager of Recruitment and University Relations.

engineers in charge

Marina Balestrassi represents the profile of an engineer in the company well. In 2019, she went through the selection process and did an internship until she graduated from the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI) and started working as a trainee in 2021.

Today, at the age of 25, she works as a wireline supervisor, leading teams with operators and tow trucks that perform services on various platforms. “I always wanted to be hands-on, I didn’t want to be in the office, and that’s what fascinated me about the Schlumberger Trainee Program. As a woman, I am very happy and I feel very proud, even powerful, to carry out a role that requires so much responsibility”, she commented.

For Marina, the career plan offered by Schlumberger is very well built, which is an advantage for those who want to work in the field, and, at the same time, project a future that is not shipped. Upon completion of the initial training program, which lasts about three years, engineers can occupy managerial, research, and operational positions, among others, outside the platforms.

In addition to the career plan, Marina highlights the differential of working abroad as a
more opportunity to develop and the support that the company offers to couples,
called a dual career, where the careers of both are seriously considered. “That is
interesting for us who have such a non-standard life”, said the engineer.

ESG on the resume

Supported by a sustainability policy that foresees zero carbon emissions by 2050, through the Net Zero program, SLB wants to attract recent graduates in line with the company’s values and missions, focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals, defined by the UN, and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) actions.

In addition to a complete degree, it is necessary to have fluent English and availability to live in Macaé-RJ and work on platforms. The program offers opportunities in the areas of operation, technology, geological and commercial sciences.

The selection process involves online and face-to-face stages, with group dynamics and interviews in English. More information will be released in the webinar, which will be conducted by Thiago with the participation of current and former trainees. Interested parties can now send their resumes to the email: recruitingbrz@slb.com, putting “Schlumberger Trainee 2022” in the subject.
