Economic problems and inflation, which affected the whole world, started to make themselves felt more especially in the second-hand vehicle market. While a vehicle that cost 330 thousand TL 6 months ago found a buyer for 700 thousand TL today, those who want to save their money have turned to second-hand vehicles. Significant statements were made by the President of Manisa Autonomy Association, Arif Diz, who stated that they expect the prices to rise rapidly due to the decrease in the production of new cars will slow down in March 2023 and that the prices will decrease by at least 10-15 percent.
WHY ARE THE PRICES OF SECOND CAR RISING?
Noting that the prices are constantly increasing, Manisa Autonomy Association President Arif Diz said, “The prices are increasing. The reason for the increase is the scarcity of new cars, inflation, production costs, hikes in natural gas and electricity. It’s the same all over the world. The most important problem in our second-hand sector is unregistered. There are a lot of people out there who buy and sell used cars. We are not saying that they should not do it either, but it would be an order if they came here and were subject to tax. The seller is determined. It has a place outside, and in addition, it does this job and has income from both sides. We only trade here. We have shop rent, expenses, it happens whether it is sold or not because they have two jobs, because they already have money coming from somewhere. Why is this disrupting the market in this way? People buy second-hand cars so that their idle money does not melt away, but it keeps its value by saying that even though it is expensive, it rises somehow. Last month, 4,900 vehicles were sold at the notary in Manisa alone. The Galericiler Sitesi sold at most 500 of these 4,900 vehicles. We want our state to investigate who sold these vehicles and where they were sold.” said.
“INTERNET SITES THREATEN THE PROFESSION”
Noting that websites threaten the profession, Diz said, “Websites are taking away our profession and forcing it. These sites threaten the profession. It also becomes impossible to determine the market of the vehicle. You see, a vehicle starts from 80 thousand and goes up to 200 thousand. There are also realistic numbers in between. There are also those who want too many numbers. Everyone’s car is beautiful. He looks, my car is more beautiful, it writes 140, the other looks, says mine is cleaner and writes 160 thousand. In order for the figures to become more decisive in terms of the market, the actual values of the vehicle must be written on these sites and must be determined.” he said.
“WE ARE BUYING A NEW VEHICLE AT A MUCH EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT OF THE VEHICLE WE SELL”
“Today, we buy the vehicle we sold on Friday for 25 thousand more on Monday.” Diz said, “We are buying the vehicle that we have sold for 300 thousand for a surplus of 25 thousand in 3 days. What happens next? Our capital is melting in the vehicle we bought for 25 thousand expensive. We have such a market. We want to sell it too, but we are afraid that when we sell the vehicle, we will buy the vehicle of the same value for a higher price. We are afraid that our money will decrease in value. Our tradesmen, working with 20 vehicle stocks, decreased to 15 vehicles. A vehicle that was 330 thousand liras became 700 thousand liras in 6 months. This is how it is in the world, we agree on that. Surely this period will pass. If there is to be a regulation regarding the increase in prices in this second hand, a measure should be taken regarding the informal sector as well.” he said.
“CARS BECOME INVESTMENT TOOLS”
Pointing out that automobiles are now investment vehicles and that there have been great increases in the last 6 months, Diz said, “According to the information we have received, we expect that inflation will gradually end in March 2023 and the market will return to normal, even 10-15 percent in the market as the number of vehicles increases. Of course, we don’t know where the market will go until then. Every increase in natural gas and electricity is also reflected in vehicle prices. We do not know how much the number of vehicles will increase. We go to dealers, people and tradesmen always buy new or second-hand cars, see their money as an investment tool, and even if they don’t get in, they buy new or second-hand cars and put them in front of their door. He says that the price is increasing somehow, he puts it in front of his door as an investment tool, saying that my money will not die.” said.
“LOWEST VEHICLE STARTS FROM 88K”
Noting that the lowest vehicles in the market are on sale for 88 thousand TL today, Diz said:
“The lowest vehicle is 1998-1999 Broadway, starting at 88 thousand liras. A very clean one goes for 100 thousand liras. If you try to buy a medium Albea, they are 145-150 thousand, if you want to buy a little more diesel vehicle, they are 2006-2007 model, between 200-250 thousand. When we come to the 2016-2017 vehicles, the figures change according to the model, condition and mileage of the car. It ranges from 320 thousand to 400 thousand liras. A golf course starts from 650 thousand liras and goes up to 750-800 thousand. 2016-1017 Passats cannot be bought below 700-800 thousand liras, that is, the starter packages. Mercedes already varies according to the condition of 1 million 2250-1 million 300-1 million 400 vehicles. It is a very difficult situation for the citizens as our purchasing power has been strained for us. We also want the numbers to drop by half. I know that I’m selling what I bought, so the numbers don’t go up. Everyone says you make a lot of money, but it’s not like that. We protect the value of our money and eat what we spend inside. People are looking for and trying to buy a car up to 300 thousand liras, but there are not many decent cars left in the market.” (UAV)
